Super Lawyers has named their top lawyers in each state for 2023. BMBFC’s own James Cardea has, once again,  been named to the list.

In addition, for the tenth consecutive year, Mr. Cardea has been voted one of the top 100 attorneys in Maryland.

The Award Selection Process

The selection process for the Super Lawyers list is rigorous. Lawyers must receive nominations from their peers without campaigning for selection.

This nomination may come from the managing partner of their law firm, another practicing attorney, or even the research team at Super Lawyers.

Once an attorney receives a nomination, Super Lawyers conducts independent research on the candidate based on 12 indicators of recognition and professional achievement.

This includes recent verdicts and settlements, overall experience, other awards, special certifications, professional activity, and more.

After Super Lawyers concludes its research, it invites the two top-scoring attorneys to the Blue Ribbon Panel. These candidates then evaluate the other candidates within their practice area.

Finally, Super Lawyers awards a representative number of attorneys from small, medium, and large law firms.

Only 5% of all attorneys nominated for Super Lawyers make it onto the final list.

About Jim Cardea

Jim Cardea has more than 25 years of litigation and jury trial experience. He has been consistently recognized as one of Maryland’s top medical malpractice attorneys.

Over the course of his career, Jim has obtained numerous seven-figure jury verdicts and settlements which have been featured in the Baltimore Sun and Daily Record, among other publications.

Jim’s many notable verdicts include a $1.75 million verdict in a Baltimore County jury trial which, according to topverdict.com, was one of the largest medical malpractice verdicts in the country in 2019.

Jim has been repeatedly included in Best Lawyers in America, Best Attorneys in America, The National Association of Distinguished Counsel (Top Attorneys), the National Trial Lawyers Top 100 and many others.

In 2022, Jim was one of only 25 attorneys selected for the Daily Record’s Personal Injury & Medical Malpractice Power List.

Identified as one of the finest and most influential practitioners in Maryland, Jim was selected to this exclusive list after the Daily Record’s editorial team consulted their readers and other individuals in the legal community for their input and perspective.

Jim received his undergraduate degree from McDaniel College and graduated cum laude from the University of Baltimore School of Law.
